Medical Detox for Heroin Abuse
Heroin was first synthesized from morphine in 1874 and entered commercial production in 1898. Of course like any other drug of similar potency, it didn’t take long for it to create drug addicts from otherwise normal, non-addicted people.
Today heroin abuse and addiction is the number one cause nationwide of drug related overdoses and overdose death. In fact it seems to almost be a daily occurrence that a few of our sober living clients receive calls from back home that someone they know had died from a heroin or other opioid related overdose. Two of the most common causes for heroin overdose today are: First, much of the powder form heroin sold now is being cut or bulked up using a much cheaper yet far more potent synthetic opioid called “fentanyl,” and secondly, many opioid painkiller addicts lose their source for acquiring more pills and then resort to using heroin as a replacement, not realizing its increased potency and end up taking too much at one time.
Heroin, just as is the case with all of the opioid class drugs, creates a state to where the body becomes physically dependent on it after prolonged use. This is where the usage of withdrawal medications like Suboxone and Subutex can come in very handy.
Medical detoxification centers for drug & alcohol addiction are very common these days, however many of them only accept private PPO medical insurance on an out-of-network basis and the private pay rates are often exorbitant, as much as $1200 to $1500 per day!
For those in and around the Ann Arbor, MI area that are physically addicted to heroin and other opioid class drugs, Structured Living, LLC now provides very low-cost or even no-cost medical detox using Suboxone or Subutex. At literally no more than a few dollars per day, men and women living at either of our “Suboxone-friendly” sober living homes can take advantage of this new opioid detoxification program while only having to pay for the monthly housing fee of $565, a very affordable rate as compared to other less reputable recovery houses throughout Michigan.
Our owner, through his desire to give back to the community as an act of gratitude for his own sobriety, has worked tirelessly over the past year to secure funding for this opioid detox program through alumni scholarship funds, private sources and government funding.!
It is extremely rare to find a reputable sober living residence, or similar type addiction recovery home, that allows its clients to be actively taking such opioid/heroin detox medications like Suboxone or Subutex. More surprising yet, is that as of late 2018 the Structured Living organization has been able to tap into various scholarships, charitable funds and government programs resulting in our recent launch of a low-cost or no-cost medically assisted heroin-opioid detox program for male & female clients living in our sober living homes.
